Getting smaller?

One of all-time favs:

1. The sport of choice for unemployed or incarcerated people is: Basketball.
2. The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is: Bowling.
3. The sport of choice for front line workers is: Football.
4. The sport of choice for supervisors is: Baseball.
5. The sport of choice for middle management is: Tennis.
6. The sport of choice for corporate officers is: Golf.
Conclusion: The higher you are in the corporate structure,
the smaller your balls become.

And here I am with a driver or whatever it’s called at the golf range. It was big mistery of my last years. Passing by those honeycomb looking multi-storey constructions I was always wondering what are they? Human being in each cell rythmically twisting in a bizzare dance. Also what all those Japanese salaryman doing with their umbrellas during lunch break? Fighting ghosts?

Now I know. They imagine themselves at a golf range. Amazingly enough I was able to kick the ball as far as 200 meters. And it’s my first time! Am I golf genius? While I am still to be convinced that golf course is fun, golf range is certainly fun, now that I been there I can testify. It’s good excercise, I still feel pain in my shoulders. After every 50 balls you will beg for a break.
With my role in the company I should have stuck with tennis, not golf. Also while working for Internet start-up you never insured against going back to basketball again. So why golf? No rational answer, but I feel like being addicted already and wanting to hear that smacking sound of well-driven ball. Small ball.
